Using the concept of darkness and light, we created self portraits using charcoal pencils and half of a black and white photo of each child. The child found the line of "symmetry"( a new mathematical concept that we learned) on their photograph and after cutting the photo in half they sketched in the other half.
Using tweezers and spoons to sift and sort black beans and rice, the children were able to strengthen and build fine motor skills and mathematical skills.
